About You
Please tell us about yourself. In order to market your books effectively,
we need a few things:
- PLEASE add us to your catalog mailing list. Thank you.
- We need to see the book. Please send us the manuscript, galleys
or the bound book.
- Marketing materials. We'll take whatever you have -- press
kit, author bio, Q&A, sell sheet, tip sheet -- and we'll take
it in whatever format you have it in -- electronic, snail mail,
handwritten... You don't need to create any of these
materials for us; just unload whatever you already have.
- Cover art and author photo. We like getting both high-res (300+
d.p.i.) and web pics (72 d.p.i) -- but we'll take whatever we
can get.
- What kind of distribution do you have? Without distribution,
it's nearly impossible to generate enough sales to pay for a campaign.
- Anything else you think might help us understand you and
your books better.
We can't guarantee the results of your campaign, but we can guarantee
the process. We will do all the work we say we'll do, professionally,
on a timely basis, and we'll document every step of the process
as proof of performance. We can't guarantee people will buy your
book or like it. We can guarantee, however, that no one has ever
bought a book she never heard of. We get your book heard about in
a hurry. How people react is something we can't control. Sorry.
If we sound like the kind of company you want to work with, we
should talk on the phone. One more
thing: we do not discriminate against self-published authors. We are not critics,
we're marketers -- equal opportunity marketers. As long as you can
live with the results we expect, our long lead times and our prices,
we are not going to decline your book because you are self-published. Everyone is entitled to try to bring
their books to market. We have already worked on "the worst book ever written," so there's nothing you can send us
that we won't vigorously promote.
Thank you for giving us an opportunity to court your business.
Sincerely,

Executive Director
